He let the tip of his weapons touch the floor lightly "I do not think, I know they do". He remembered the hated and feared Illithids, hideous creatures whose very veracious appetite for the minds of others made attack you through your thoughts, and even your dreams "You should be careful, one thing I do remember, no matter how 'out of control' you feel in your own dreams... you are ultimately the one in control".
He gave a sigh as he cracked a half-smile, something he rarely did "Return to your rest day elf, I shall return to mine, and thank you again for your kindness." He stepped back into the hallway, and slowly returned to his room. As he re-entered his room, he laid his weapons beside his pack, leaving them in a position that would allow him to quickly grab them. He climbed back into bed, and than closed his eyes, but was not quite asleep yet.

She sat in the middle of her bed clinging to her teddypanda bear while listening to what Rileez had to say about dreams. She was reminded of a time when another she knew had actually entered her dream to save her. So from that experience, she knew the power of dreams.
"I do know that it's possible for others to enter a person's dream, but I just can't imagine myself altering a dream. But I suppose," she said as she helped the dragon onto her bed, "anything is possible."
When he bid her a 'goodnight' and had left, she sunk down beneath the covers and did her best to keep her eyes open. With each crack of thunder of the storm, she jerked and snuggled closer to the stuffed toy and to the little dragon.
"I'll be glad when morning comes, Fade," she admitted with a yawn.
Before long, the attempt to keep her eyes open finally failed and a peaceful slumber filled with sunny beaches filled her dreams.

He sat in the corner of her room, thankful for the invisibility spell, and watched the Dark Elf talking to Bre'Cheye. He could tell that the man meant her no harm, so there was no need to reveal himself to him... or even to her. At this point, Kaelan didn't want Bre'Cheye to even know he was following her. He didn't want her to know for at least two reasons, those being that she would probably send him on his way and the other being that she would probably punch him in the face.
The little dragon woke and cast a glance toward the corner. Kaelan let his spell drop, revealing himself to the tiny rodent type pet then with a quick twist of his hand a slumber spell hit the pet before it had the chance to announce an intruder. Kaelan took a small vial from a pocket in his vest that held a blue-ish liquid. Unable to teleport as a Cleric, he was forced to use potions from time to time. Kaelan drank the liquid and disappeared from her room for parts unknown.

He roused from his sleep. He sensed something not quite right. It was morning, and the light peeked through the window and pierced his eyes with a throbbing pain. Though he had been a surface dweller for some time now, he could never fully get over the sheer radiance of light the sun gave off. He rose from his bed, and slowly and methodically re-equip himself. He was pondering heading off to who knows where, but thought it might be a little odd and possibly rude of himself to suddenly disappear without even a word with the Mistress of the Cottage. He left his mail, and his blades within the room, comfortable enough with the cottage to feel no need for them, though he still kept a knife hidden within the top of each boot, just in case. He stepped from the room, and looked about as he finished tying off the strap on the neck of his tunic, than outreaching his hands with a stretch.

The early morning sunshine had woken her the moment it had crossed her face; the warmth a welcome feeling. She had risen and quickly washed her face then dressed in one of her simple longish white dresses. She had pulled her long wavy hair back into a loose pony-tail then headed for the kitchen to begin breakfast for not only herself but for the guest who had stopped by the night before. She had no idea if he were still here, but if he were, there would be plenty of food for all.
After placing a plate of warm fluffy biscuits on the table, she finished the morning 'feast' with a platter of bacon, sausages and ham and a bowl of cheesy scrambled eggs. The coffee was done and the oranges squeezed, now all was needed was hungry mouths. And she knew that if Sirinnu was home from his lengthy hunting trips, he would maybe stop by as well.
Stepping into the living room, she called up the stairs, "If you are still here, I have prepared a morning meal for you if you'd like to have some." She stepped back into the kitchen to pour up a steaming hot mug of apple cider to have with one of the biscuits. 'Might as well eat one while they were hot,' she thought to herself.

Rileez slowly crept down the stairs. He made no motion to rub his eyes, though he was still quite tired. He felt like a log, thanks to the prior nights events and their timing. He stepped into the living room and a ran a hand up the back of his long hair to scratch his scalp. "Good morning", was all he could muster to mutter from his lips, his words barely audible. He took a seat and spoke again "Thank you... Food would be nice".

She turned around toward the stove to scoop up some bacon and scrambled eggs; adding a couple of warm fluffy biscuits on the edge. Placing the plate in front of Rileez, she turned once more toward the stove to pour up a mug of hot coffee.
"If you would like something else to drink, I have some milk and hot cider," she added as she joined him with a plate, a biscuit and her own mug of hot cider.
As she slowly sipped on the hot wassail, her mind went back to all the events that had occured during her stay in this town: from meeting a charming bard to feeling alone while being surrounded by many. Looking up from her mug, she asked, "Do you ever feel alone?"

~*~*~*~*~*~*~A Few Weeks later~*~*~*~*~*~*~
She had long since packed up the festive decorations her clan had used during the party that had been patterned after a Beach Party, and was now busy with preparing her small cottage for the coming winter months. Like a chameleon, the many trees that surrounded the graying wooden house that had once boasted many a green vibrant leaf, now was glowing in varying shades of reds, oranges and yellows. The pumpkins, gourds and other fall vegetables had long since been gathered and stored safely on the shelves with the summer food bounty in the cellar beneath her small house. The apples, peaches and pears had been picked and packed away and the dried flower seeds were safely tucked away in small boxes in the trunk at the end of her bed.
It had been very quiet as of late and she passed the thought off to herself that the reason why no one came by to visit was because they were too busy with their lives as they prepared for the coming winter and the holidays. If it weren't for the almost daily note from one she thought of as a brother or the friendship of a few others, she would have long since left these lands to search for where she had came from: wherever that was.
As she knelt in the garden to dig up the tulip bulbs, the unusually warm fall winds softly blew through her hair. With a dirt covered hand, she pushed at her hair; not caring about any smudges that now spotted her nose and forehead. Casting a glance around the yard filled with dead flowers and bushes, she recalled one of her long lost friends promising her that he would bring his guitar and cookies and bring the clan by to help with her yard--and to put the swing under the tree to good use. She choked back what she was feeling to convince herself it didn't matter what others thought... it shouldn't matter, but it did. And so she continued to sit near the entrance of her house, her fingers digging in the dirt; searching for a lost tulip bulb and not noticing or caring about the falling leaves from her trees.

(The pictures I've posted are for the reader to use their imagination while reading about what is occuring in those rooms. Although there are no evergreen boughs or berries in the pictures, just imagine that there are ) The fire was roaring in the fireplace as the wind howled at the door of her living room. The falling snow looked mystical while being viewed from a window, but felt like tiny knives hitting her each time she had to go outside for more wood. She had placed some evergreen boughs at the mantle of the fireplace along with red berries to add some color. The scent of the roasting ham from the kitchen was enough to pull her away from her decorating, but she needed to finish this before the nightfall. In the customs from where she was from, on the eve of the Winterfest, a friendly troll would appear in your home; leaving the home owner gifts of good fortune. The troll's name was Santug Claug and wore a set of red armor. She knew that it was just a story, just a tale of sorts, and that Santug Claug didn't really exist. But all the same, it was something to do to lift her spirits. Standing back to admire her work, she smiled before heading off the the kitchen to check the ham and her supply of spided cider and cookies. One could never have TOO many cookies!

Unknown walked up to the cottage uncertainly. It looked dark inside, although he couldn't tell very well from where he stood. He hesitated, and almost turned around to find somewhere else to beg for some clean water and food, but decided to stay his ground, and reached out to knock softly on the door. Hearing no response after a brief wait, he steeled himself and knocked harder, waiting once more.

She had been baking all afternoon: breads, rolls, cookies and pies. The breads and rolls had been stored and was ready to be eaten the next morning. The cookies lay in their cookie jar, unaware that soon they would become victim to any cookie-hungry person who might be dropping by. She had an apple pie, a strawberry pie, a pecan pie and a pumpkin pie cooling on the counter. She thought she heard knocking on the front door as she was bent over retrieving the coconut cream pie but shook her head, telling herself she was hearing things. But just as she placed the cream pie with the other four pies, she heard a loud banging on the door.
"Now THAT was not my imagination!!" she said to her 10 inch pet dragon Fade who had his eye on the apple pie.
Scooping up the tiny creature to prevent him from attacking her pies, she made her way from the kitchen and to the front door. Unlocking the door, she opened it to find one of her friends with a very unique name.
"Unknown!! Come in, come in! You are here just in time!"
She opened the door wider then stepped back so that her friend could come in out of the cold. She was also glad that she had earlier fed the fireplace and it was roaring and ready to warm any cold travelers.

"Thank you, Bre'Cheye." Unknown said as he stepped into the warm room, where he was immediately struck by the delicious smells of various foods all mixed together. "Mmm..." he sighed, "it smells like you've been busy around here! Is that apple pie I smell?"
Unknown moved closer to the fire as he said this, holding his hands out in front of him so that soon the numbness was gone.

The 10 inch dragon who was humiliated at being shoved in the crook of his mistress' arm burst forth and hovered in mid air to give the newcomer a good look. At the mention of apple pie, the little apple addict splurted out two words from his home-land, "Sia gwar!!!" (My apple) Then the tiny dragon flapped his wings toward the ceiling before making a dive into the kitchen to land next to the apple pie. "Sia! Sia! Mine!!!" the dragon repeated over and over, trying to block the view to the apple pie.

Unknown watched the little dragon guard its apple pie for a few moments, amused by how ferocious it was. Suddenly he went from relaxing by the fire to flying through the air, having quickly jumped toward the little dragon and its treasure, hoping to surprise it. Midair, he shouted, "You'll have to fight me for it!"

The tiny dragon's eyes grew even larger at the bold announcement made by the newcomer. "You'll have to fight me for it," the one his mistress called Unknown had said. Fade stood on the counter in front of the pie, showing his full ten inch frame and strained as hard as he could in an attempt to blow fire at Unknown. But all that happened was that the tiny puff of fire came out the wrong end, so Fade sat down and pouted.
