As Varn was out exploring the mountainous regions of the West, he came across a poor looking troll. He decided to help out this sad looking creature. As he was helping pick some stuff off the ground the troll jumped him from behind. He stole all his gems and blinding dust that he had been collecting. When Varn woke up he realized that the troll only left him with a rock as payment for his help.
Varn was badly hurt but fortunately he always kept a healing salve in his war boots. As he laying there recovering from his wounds, he heard a soft voice in his head. A voice of a druid spoke to him saying, “if only I had a dragon’s egg, then people would love my cookies and come visit me.” It was the kindest and most gentle voice he had ever heard. It gave him strength and now he had a purpose to live.
The mines weren’t to far off from where he was and he definitely had enough strength to steal some eggs and get to where he need to go. Making his way towards the South part of the mountains, he stumbled across a dragons nest. He looked around and grabbed a couple eggs very quickly. “Come to papa,” he said. He started to run before the dragon came back and noticed what had happened. He heard loud roars coming from behind him but he dare not look back. He didn’t know where he was going but something inside him was directing him. Like a compass in his brain that told him where to go.
It was night fall by the time he made it into town and everyone was at the tavern drinking it up. Varn walked right passed all the charming people begging him to come in for a drink. He was on a mission and he couldn’t let anything happen to the eggs. As he walked up a dark path, he saw a dim light on in a cottage. He lets a sigh while saying, “That’s it, that’s the place I have been looking for. Finally!” He makes his way up to the front door of the cottage and knocks.

The rain hitting the tin roof of the small shed sounded like walnuts hitting a metal shield. The small shed was at the back of the inn where a brother and sister were fast asleep. The Half Elf Cleric who had been helping his friend Sage track down one sister was now in deep conversation with the younger sister. "Why is it that they never knew about you?" the Cleric asked the naive Druid. Before she could answer, their attention was drawn to the pounding on the door of the shed....
She was pulled from her dream by the sound of someone knocking on her front door; a dream about a point in her life she didn't like remembering. Grabbing the teddypanda bear her clan leader had given her, she slowly walked from her room to living area. Half-way across the room she realized that once more she didn't have any weapon for protection so she grabbed the poker from the fireplace...... 'just in case.'
With the poker out of sight, she opened the door to see a shadowed figure standing on the front stoop. At first she didn't recognize who it was that was holding something 'egg-shaped' in their hands, until the moon broke through the few clouds in the sky that night. "Varn? Varn! What are you doing here so late? And are those dragon eggs?!? I've been wanting some of those to make some special cookies for Sirinnu. Please come in."
She looked down at the poker in one hand and the teddypanda bear in the other, then quickly set her 'weapon' aside. "I, uh.. thought I heard a prowler and Teddy here," she said as she held up the stuffed toy, "he's not too good at scaring anyone off."

As the door opens slowly, he starts to see the owner of the house come in to sight. She looks scared and surprised. Varn thinks to himself, ‘it's probably pretty late’ and he didn’t think that he would be waking up the person that lived there.
It was Bre’cheye at the door! He did not expect to see her there. “Bre, you live here?! It must have been your voice I kept hearing,” exclaims Varn. He looks down at the poker in here hand and chuckles when he sees her holding a teddypanda bear in her other hand. Varn smiling says, “I see you weren’t expecting me either. But look what I found for you.” Varn hands her the 3 eggs he had stolen from the dragons nest. “I believe you have been in need of dragons eggs.” Varn says proudly.
Bre takes the eggs from him and heads off into the kitchen. He steps in to the cottage and takes off his muddy boots and looks around a bit. There is a nice fire going in the corner and picture frames on the mantle. He feels like something is watching him though and turns around to find that he was right. The teddypanda bear was sitting in a chair across the room staring at him. Bre must have set him there before she went into the kitchen. As he was stuck in a staring contest with the bear, Bre came out of the kitchen holding a plate. Varn didn’t know what it was but it sure did smell good.

Standing before Varn with a plate of warmed up spaghetti, she gave her stuffed bear a "look" that made the bear's eyes close. "I hope you like this," she said as she sat in the chair with the magical toy. Clutching the bear who's eyes were once more wide open, she leaned her head on the back of the chair and watched the flames leaping up and down on the logs. "I do wish this weather would make it's mind up; hot one day, cold the next. I put those dragon eggs in a safe place until morning when I can make those cookies for Sirinnu." She briefly closed her eyes then continued talking, "I've actually lived here for about a month now, I believe. It's a bit cozier than one of the rooms at the Inn. And once the weather does decide to stay warm, I plan on planting a garden out back with vegetables and maybe some flowers." Patting the head of the teddypanda bear, her sleepy curiosity of Varn's discovery of her cottage grew even more. "You didn't know I lived here? It's quite lucky though for me, since I was needing those dragon eggs." She smiled as Varn continued eating and did her best to contain Teddy, who seemed to want to jump from her hands to attack the plate of spaghetti.

He reaches for the plate while looking at the bear. As he holds the plate in his right hand, he scratches his head in disbelief with his left. He is sure he just saw that bear close its eyes. It must be getting late, he thinks to himself. As Varn starts to go to town on the delicious plate of spaghetti, Bre sits down next to the bear. “Ya the weather has been a bit fidgety this year,” Varn says before slurping up a noodle. “If you ever need help with your garden, I won’t be too far away. I will be questing in the fields not too far from town.” As he finished off the plate of spaghetti, he started to feel his tiredness take over. He yawned a couple of times while talking to Bre. “I will have to tell you how I found your cottage in the morning. I need sleep now, that bear looks like it is moving.” He goes to put the plate down in the kitchen and heads over to his pack. He didn’t want to be burden on her so he was going to camp outside till morning. “good night, Bre.”

As Varn continued to watch her teddypanda bear, she had to chuckle to herself at his confusion in the toy's magic. Covering the bear's face with her hand, she listened to Varn's offer of garden help. As he took the plate back to the kitchen, she rose from her chair and tucked the bear beneath her arm.
"I'd appreciate any help at all with my garden; I've never really attempted anything like that on my own before."
As he picked his pack up, she pointed to the narrow stairs that led upward, "There are two empty bedrooms up there if you want to use one of them." Not waiting for a reply, she opened the door next to the stairs then turned before closing her bedroom door. "If you do stay, don't let a tiny clumsy dragon scare you; that's just my pet... Fade."
Closing the door behind her, she crawled back into her warm & cozy bed and slowly drifted to sleep with her teddypanda bear 'keeping watch.'

After watching the male individual make his way to Bre'cheye's small cottage, Kaelan sat back against a tree in hopes the unknown person would soon leave. It wasn't like he had any "claim" on her other than being the first bastard to break her heart, but he felt it was now his responsibility to watch out for her... at least, as a favor to his best friend Sage; her brother.
Finally after about an hour, the man closed the door behind him and watched (with great relief) as the man made a camp on the other side of the weedy yard. Kaelan silently cast an invisibilty spell on himself then made himself comfortable behind a large oak tree, settling in for the night. He was far enough from the cottage so as not to be noticed, and far enough from the unknown man as well. But close enough to be of any help, if the need should arise.

Ten inches of pure power: that was how Fade liked to think of himself. What Fade lacked in stature, he made up with his annoying knowledge of minor fire tricks. It was enough, he knew, to help his mistress escape from any assailant... if need be. Fade sat on the end of his mistress' bed as she slept, acting as though he were a 10 foot guard. Fade couldn't sense any real danger so his boredom factor quickly rose. He rolled to his back on the soft bed and tried to pull his foot up to see the tatoo that spelled his name in the language of Dragons. Giving up on that idea, Fade rolled to his stomach and let his mind drift to images of beans.... bean burritoes to be precise. Sitting up, Fade closed his eyes to concentrate on the Towne Square Tavern. If there were any burritoes to be found, Fade felt for sure he could find them there. His form faded from sight from his mistress' cottage to reappear in the Towne Square Tavern. The 10 inch dragon began his snooping in all of Toki's hiding places for special food, any food.. but where were those beans?!?!

Kaelan sat beneath the tree with the hood of his cloak up in order to keep the light rain from making this night even more miserable. Not one to waste his magic for comfort, he closed his eyes in an attempt to get a little sleep in the annoying rain. Each time he closed his eyes, he imagined how it would feel to be sleeping in the room that held the fireplace... the fireplace that had soft billowing smoke puffing up through the falling rain.
Kaelan opened his eyes and cursed under his breath while holding his fingers together in a fist then quickly opening them to emit the invisible shield to ward off the rain for the night. With his eyes once more closed the thought ran across his mind that was more an oath than anything: "If you are so determined to stay in these lands, I'll be even more determined to hide in the shadows to keep you safe."

Rileez had stumbled upon the cottage as he was strolling through the woods. Between jobs, he could hardly find something that could catch his interest, he lived for his work, and so was not accustom to relaxing for too long. He made no effort to hide his identity, a dark elf out by himself during the day, a suspicious character indeed!
As he walked about the cottage he contemplated to himself, asking what sort of person lived here. He was rarely drawn to curiosity about other people, though seemed to at this moment. He crossed his arms, walking about with nary a sound, as he peered through each window he walked by, observing the furnishings. It was growing late, he thought, and he decided to be bold, as he stepped to the door, giving it a light rap. His eyes had grown weary, and he hope whoever lived inside would be of a friendlier sort, as the day had drawn near to a close.

After much pilfering in Toki's kitchen, the little dragon named Fade finally managed to find some cold tacos and buritos. Sitting in the middle of the kitchen, Fade was surrounded by the remnants of broken taco shells and a bean here and there.
The tiny dragon's eyes slowly closed as he concentrated on his mistress and her small cottage which sat at the edge of the Dragon Court village. In his mind he saw an individual standing at the door, knocking. Fade half burped and half shrieked when he realized that his greed and craving had drawn him away from his mistress.
As quickly as the ten inch dragon could flap his small wings, he flew toward the cottage while leaving a trail of small puffs of fireballs caused by his late night eating.

"Teddy?!?" Bre'cheye gasped to her teddy bear as she sat up, now wide awake. Even though the sound at her front door was very soft, it was loud enough that her elven ears had picked it up. She sat in the middle of her bed clutching the stuffed teddypanda bear toy that her clan leader Sirinnu had given her. Pieces of her wavy hair stuck out every which way from the two braids that hung down her back as she decided whether to move or not.
Finally, armed with the teddypanda bear, she scuffed along in her footed jammies to the darkened living room and to the door where obviously someone stood on her porch.
Knowing of the magic of her teddypanda bear, she held it in front of her as she opened the door slightly, revealing a male individual of the Dark Elf race.
"Hello," Bre'Cheye spoke in a cracked voice cloaked in sleepiness. She opened the door wider and stepped back to get a better look at the dark elf in the moonlight. Her sleepy smile should show that she had no fear of him, for to her... everyone was her friend until they proved otherwise.

Rileez probably seemed pretty shady stumbling upon someone's door at such a late hour, but his fatigue had blinded him to such ideas. He gave a quiet look to the elven woman be crossing his arms. He spoke quietly, but his voice seemed to carry with some resonance. "I was just inquiring about a place to rest, might I ask who runs this home?". He was used to dealing with overworlders, and even considered himself one now. He had learned to be proper and speak with respect, even after years of bitter slavery. He uncrossed his arms again, reaching into a small sack tied to his waste, filled inside were all sorts of fruits, from nectarines and peaches, to pears and apples. "I've food to offer in return for a night's rest".

Fade was almost there and intent on saving his mistress when he saw the dark elf pull out an apple. Upon seeing the apple, all else left the ten inch dragon's mind. With another burst of fire from behind, Fade zeroed in to the apple the man was holding. "Mine!!"

Listening to the man's inquiry as to who 'ran this house,' Bre'Cheye started to answer when her train of thought was derailed by her pet dragon's attempt to hijack the apple. Holding her hand, palm out and fingers fanned out, the little dragon was frozen in mid-flight.
"I own this house, so I suppose I am the one who runs it. Please come in, and please excuse my pet."
She stepped back to allow the dark elf passage through her door and to the living room, then twisted her hand and closed her fingers as though she were pulling on a string. The movement 'unfroze' the dragon and let him drift to the ground. "Fade, be polite and watch." She shut the door behind her and knew that her pet would fly to the back and enter the house to keep her safe.
Bre'Cheye covered her mouth to stifle a yawn then looked back toward the obviously tired man. "I don't rent out any rooms, but I do have two spare rooms up those stairs." She motioned toward a flight of stairs that stood next to a door that led to her private quarters. She sat in one of the overstuffed chairs with her magical teddypanda bear in her lap and waited for his reply.
