Q1: Was the guy related to or significantly acquainted with the old man in any way? Q2: Is there a particular reason why the man didn't or couldn't couldn't just look and see for himself whether or not there was seaweed?

Was the man a vegetarian? No. Was the old man living on an island? no. Was the man and the old man related? no. Was the young man a pharmceutical student? no. Did the young man speak with an accent? irrelavant! Did the old man lie? no. Would the man have still hung himself if the old man had told him that there *was* seaweed in the sea? no. Is the actual location of the beach relevant? hmm, yes. rather it was the fact that it was that very sea. Had the man been trying to get somewhere and found it that it was the wrong sea? no. Was it the dead sea? no. Is it relevant what time or date that this took place? no.

did the man mean to hang himself? yes. is it the medditeranean sea? no. it was just some unknown beach but it mattered to that guy that it was THAT beach.

so is there 3 people, or just the old man and the man who hung himself? was the "hanging" a typical way we would think of someone hanging themselves?
