(here is the next part, hope you'll enjoy it
They stood there for a while, looking at each other, as two seeds of a growing friendship. A friendship that was yet far from strong, still possible to be killed by a single storm, but with some luck it would in time grow and become well rooted within them both. They were still looking at each other when a cold wind made Eric shiver.
“Are you cold my little one?”
Groth’dar asked with a small hint of concern hidden within his voice, he did not really know how humans fared with cold and draft caves like this.
“It’s no worries big fellow, I just got a little chill there, that’s all.”
After having said that Eric rubbed his arms a little and saw the small clouds coming from his mouth.
“But I guess there isn’t much warmth in here, right big fellow?”
He only shook his head before he lay himself in a somewhat of a half circle, with his rear legs stretching far behind him and his head resting on the front legs, this turned his stomach a bit outwards.
“Come little one, lean yourself towards my belly, you’ll find it both warm and soft.”
Eric hesitated a bit before he asked.
“Are you sure big fellow?”
He looked into Eric’s eyes.
“I’m sure little one, please go ahead.”
Eric made his way towards the belly of Groth’dar, where he sat down next to the mighty dragon and leaned backwards against his stomach. He was surprised to find it very soft and comfortable and it weren’t long before he began drifting into a well-needed sleep. Although when he sat there he suddenly became aware of a soft, golden glow around him, he turned around and saw that the glow came from within the belly of Groth’dar. Surprised he turned to the head of his newfound friend.
“Big fellow, what is this light?”
He turned his head inward to face Eric.
“That is my inner fire little one, most dragons have one. It allows us to breathe flames and to warm our surroundings and ourselves when needed.“
Eric lay his hands on Groth’dars belly and felt the warmth that originated from it.
“So that is how you breathe fire, from your belly?”
“Not really o’ little one, the inner fire is merely what sparks the flames. The actual flames come from poisonous gas stored in our mouth, the inner fire sets this gas on flames and thus we can breathe fire. We can also use this gas as venom when we hunt. Unfortunately we only have a small quantity stored and it takes several weeks to produce a new supply.”
Eric scratched his chin a bit.
“I see, that’s really interesting, do you think you could tell me a little about dragons big fellow?”
“Well little one, I suppose I could tell you a few things, what do you wish to learn?”
“First of I’d like to know where dragons come from.”
He looked down on Eric before he turned and stared a bit absentmindedly into the darkness, thinking back in time.
“Dragons have been on this planet since the dawn of time, the first where the black dragons, born when the world was engulfed in darkness. The black dragons found their homes first in the mountains that arose from the earth, and later in the swamps that sprouted between the seas and the lands. The reason the black dragons changed their habitation was because the swamps made our venom stronger and easier to regenerate which meant that our flames also became stronger and lasted a greater time. The black dragons are the oldest and largest dragons on earth, we can live for as long as a ten thousand years.“
“Ten thousand years?”
He could see that this number shocked the human Eric.
“Yes little one, ten thousand years, although some of us are thought to be immortal.
“How old are you big fellow?”
“I myself am merely three thousand years old little one.”
“Three thousand years, that means you where born 1000 BC?”
“Yes, by your way of measure little one. To be precise I was born 1053 BC in your time.”
