if you find or make it, it's not an antique bre.. antiques are OLD.. antiques will usually be enchanted ALOT more then usual, and then there's BABY TIQUES.. which will have weee little tiny stats.. like a shuriken with 3 attack or something.. jaguar mantles however, were not around in the tique days i don't believe..

I didn't find it (from hunting) or didn't make it. It was on a really old character. I'm enchanting it up just to see how far it will go.

Well, even if it is an antique, it won't go higher than it should. Besides maybe a few stat changes, the equipment itself never changed, only the rules for how high you can enchant it. I don't know how much you know about antiques, so I'll just keep going. It used to be you could go forever, or at least a very long time. I don't believe there was an upper limit on how many times you could enchant something. The only problem was, once you enchanted it too many times, it would explode and you'd lose it. I believe the higher the stats of the weapon, the less risk there was for it exploding, but I don't know. So you could enchant it really high, but the higher you enchanted it, the more likely it was to randomly explode. I think that's all correct...

I believe the amount u could enchant an item was based upon how many wits u had the more wits the more u could enchant an item easier of couse if u had alot of scrolls that also helped. when i first started playing i do not believe that items would explode at all but was later introduced. also jag mantles were not around during that time u will never find a tique jag mantle the most common items u will find are
head: miners capp body:kouts feet: war boots or sea slippers right:masa or glad left :shurk or rams horn
killa
ps. 0 attack x3+ 100 defence x2+ 46 skill x1 =246 enchants
therefore 100a 46s jag mantle=25a 125d 292s without bless with bless add 5 defence total stats 25a 130d 292s

There's a few ways to spot if a tique is hacked/altered, but unfortunately no way to know for sure if it's legit. A good guide is the location of the item (When you click info) will have a capital first letter. There was also no such thing as natural enchants, so if there's anything strangely laid out with the stats, it's a hacked item. Also any tiques that aren't flamed/glowed are also likely to be hacked. (There was no reason to not put f/g on them originally, so everyone did). As to the enchanting on tiques, I'm not sure on exact old enchanting method, but I do know there was a bug to avoid exploding weapons which was abused by a lot of the original players. (Understandably perhaps, why let a 4k tique explode if you could avoid it?) Once the patch including silvers was added all tiques were reset to have their enchanted skill become their base skill. Which is why we have tiques with huge amounts of a/d now. (The skill list was altered too, allowing people to have higher skill and a higher combination of stats, so you'd show on the list even if you were more powerful) The current skill limit for the lists is 40k, and the total combined a/d cannot exceed 3k. (Theoretically giving a maximum of around 35-37k skill including agile and a real decent char (Remembering wits and charm add to base skill)) That number won't be beaten by anyone unless they're using unenchanted tiques. There's stories of a few out there, but I find it incredibly hard to believe in their legitness. (10 years without enchanting them again, I'd have done it to have more alts on the list long before now ;p) Sorry, rambled on a bit. Hopefully some of the stuff was semi-useful
