I was prompted to do a little experimentation after I found out you can sell certain items in the mountains (scrolls, gems, etc) whilst questing one of my alts there.
I checked the sale pricing for many items that can be sold there as well as in the shop in the town using my main character Xene. Before I list my results, let me state that your own results will vary from mine. I will go into more detail how the figures can be used and what creates the variance afterwards.
Firsthand, these numbers are exactly how much the items sell for in marks for that specific item for me. I specified 'for me' because the sale price of items depends on certain things, including how much charm your character has and whether or not you have the merchant ability. However, the prices relative to each other should remain the same for you and me. That is to say, a Rutter To Azteca should always be 'more expensive' than a Rutter To Shangala which is 'more expensive' than a Rutter to Hie Brasil, or that a Blast Powder is always worth 5 times as many marks as a Blinding Dust.
Anyway, the results of these findings came to a surprise for me, because the Djinni shop in the mountains actually offers the most marks in the game for any of the items they buy there. Doing some comparisons, it is something like 37.5% more marks than the shop in town. Unfortunately, the gem shop does not offer any additional marks for your piles of gems or treasures and actually offers less than the shop in town. Furthermore, the Djinni shop does not offer to buy a large range of items; only scrolls, healing supplies, dusts and powders, oils, elixirs, roots, and the unique potions from that shop.
All of this basically boils down to the fact it is a good idea to bring your mass youth elixirs or blast powders to the djinni shop in the mountains to get the most bang for your buck.
Feel free to use the numbers above anyway you want. There are probably some junk I don't have that I didn't bother checking, but I should have the most popular stuff people sell for marks. Also, the best way to use the numbers is to keep in mind the game most likely calculates things via percentages and multipliers, so do some comparisons of your own to estimate how many marks you'd get if you were to buy a lot of a specific junk on the TP.
