Alright, so instead of focusing on going out and beating up monsters or the like, I've been spending my time working on my stats. I've been doing this in Court, so that I could (hopefully) get a jump on things later on. Nymril is at level 19, a Count. Has Guts of 91, Wits of 79, and Charm of 100. Attack's at 114, Defend at 139, Skill at 306. Has a Spiked Helm (14a, 14d, 16s), Snake Scale Suit (7a, 47d, 42s), War Boots (9a, 11d, 13s), Crystal Goblin Pick (56a, 1d, 6s), and Great Targe (11a, 57d, 115s). Mahavar is level 18, a Viscount. Has 82 Guts, 55 Wits, and 85 Charm. Attack is at 174, Defend at 79, and Skill of 301. Has a Spiked Helm (15a, 16d, 19s), Snake Scale Suit (7a, 55d, 54s), War Boots (9a, 10d, 13s), and Matchlock Rifle (118a, 2d, 119s). Am I doing well? Is the best idea for me to keep spending time at Court to focus on stats (was planning on gettingi them up to 100 before moving on)? Or what? Tips for improvement are welcome.

nice, kinda equal to my storage chars when they were that lvl,
if u want to work on stats, u shudnt care about rank or favor or fame, dicing increases wits but loses favor and fame, gaming increases guts, mingling increases charm, and boasting does nothing but get u kicked out, if u didnt know that
tip: if u want to increase charm without losing a LOT of quests, u shud drink at the tavern, u lose a few quests after a few hundred i think but increases charm nicely
tip2: if u want to increase wits nicely, RUN AWAY FROM EVERYTHING
personal tip: i usually do a goal before i go out and attack monsters, when my storage chars were lvl 18, i diced/mingled only(no gaming) until quest 50-80, and went to go fight the monsters because fighting increases only guts and its hard to gain other stats in the battlestage

I haven't been worrying about fame or favor or the like. They both have around 100 quests each day. So I just spend the entire time dicing/mingling, for the most part. Since I know guts can come a bit easier from the battles. I haven't been doing anything but dicing on Nymril, since he hit the 100 mark I was hoping to get before moving back out into the world.

Hmmmm stats.
I only quest about once a week or less, I spend all my time in the courts.
The real thing to realize is you miss out on getting items.
The stat gain is a preference thing i guess.

I gotcha. I'm just wondering if what I'm doing is about par for the course, is it the best idea, or should I be out and slaughtering monsters?

many ways to do things , , none all Bad, none all good... Even with strong gear, it's hard to survive in the hardest areas if your stats arent high enough.. so either you quest where you can do it without dying to much, , or you spend a few days raising your stats doing court activities, mingling or gaming).... When questing, all stats can be raised too not only guts... Of course when we only use the upper otion (kill the critter) guts looks to be more commun, , but if you try charming/ bribing most of the time, your charm can significantly raise.... same thing with running away, , if you run away all the time, , , you'll end up getting some points of wits in the process (and as you fail sometimes, to run or help or charm, you always end killing some beast, , so, you get goodies, others stats and gear to identify too). You might also want to read what I've wrote about raising stats: jackthebear.proboards75.com/index.cgi?board=tips&action=display&thread=1166644311

I'm going to cry. And there's nothing uglier than a grown man curled into the fetal position crying. Basically, I'm asking for the opinion on what -I'm- currently doing. And if there's a way to improve upon it. As it goes now, I'm gaining about 5 to 6 points per stat using my 110ish quests per day at the Court. Right now, Nymril's focusing on Wits to try and get them up to 100. His charm's at 100, so ignoring that for now. I figured I'd focus on getting the stats up to about 100 across the board before moving further along.

lol, we have our own agendas perhaps. that isn't why we are telling you what you want to hear. It is all a matter of personal choice. You aren't doing anything wrong, what you are doing is done by other clan members as well - and I have a similar style of ranking / stregthening my characters. But it is all a matter of what is important to you, and what your plan is. To settle your mind, you are doing fine - BUT there is "NO CRYING IN DC" warriors don't cry and neither do wizards jk

You're killing me, Isis. KILLING ME! Is the 100 for the stats across the board a good goal to have by like...level 20? That'd be an average of 5 per stat per level. And they both have some skills. Pretty sure Nymril and Mahavar have 4 Sage skills each, around 5 or 6 in their respective choice (Mahavar, I think, has 8 Warrior skills and Nymril has 6 or 7 Trader skills).

What your doing is good mahavar, but I would suggest not dicing with nymril (as dicing can cost alot of marks, and it decrease your favor when you succeed), instead, go by the field and run away from everything, you'l get more wits that way than any other since your still below 100 wits.
+ wits help alot in battle, but guts is what make you stay alive (as srfred said you need at least 120 guts to survive the docks pirates, and dongeon goblins). So gaming is the best , to raise your guts (or fighting) and running away to gain wits... Personnaly, when my charies hit above 175-200 guts I send em in hie brasil even with theyr wits below 100 (with some gear and medecines they can survive, the best foes, dont try the harpies and Medusas).
hope it helps, , , now stop crying or the Hie Brazil Hero will laugh at ya! hehe

u shud never have to worry about charm, u can always drink at the inn tavern without losing many quests to increase charm

Yea, on the new guys I just started yesterday I started tinkering. Running from goblins isn't really important in the fields, doesn't seem like they give chase. So I outright kill them. I lend a hand to merchants/wizards, then kill them. Try to trade with the centaurs before going to kill them. And always run from the rats. So the little guys are doing alright so far.

you have the idea.. I typically concern myself with guts at first, then while I'm in court I just mingle until I am to seneschal. At that point I do 50 or so gaming in the court to keep my rank up and then spend the rest of the time questing. My wits aren't all that great yet, but I normally gain 3-4 a day questing if I do it right. I can usually gain 1-2 guts from gaming too. The best one I have is 466 guts, 179 wits and 455 charm. That one I have played every day for a year - it takes time
