In light of recent comments made in my other thread another idea was born.
We are often inspired and hooked on books and characters of all kinds. would it not be interesting to know our favorites and why? Perhaps just a book or character that is memorable to you for some reason? We can use this thread to do just that, yes, this would be a fine place indeed.
(I realize I am still rather new to W&W, so forgive me if this is a lackluster thread idea or if I am in fact overstepping my bounds.)

Exalt more for good ideas My favorite book is the Bible...it teaches me everything important about life and how to live. I LOVE to read it every day, and as a matter of fact, I base my whole life from truths found in the Bible (or at least I try my best).

Ah sir, I believe you put yourself down too much.
I am rather partial to the Hitch-hikers Guide collection. I really like so many of the characters but particularly Slartibartfast. He was responsible for Designing Fjords - particularly Norway. Alas it's not at all connected to DC or W&W but it's a starter for ten

Sir Terry Pratchett: Sam Vimes. Love Pratchett's work, love the Vimes character. I even have "Where's My Cow", the book Vimes reads to Young Sam. Pathetic, pathetic, I know that of which I am guilty.

I'm surprised I haven't posted in this before now.
I loved Tasslehoff Burrfoot in the Dragonlance books. Loved all of the characters in the Anne of Green Gables books and the Story Girl books which was the base for the series Avonlea... Prince Edward Island.... I'd love to go there! Those would have to be my favorites.

I agree D_S, the Bible is also at the top of my list. pure inspiration everytime I open it. Dee, I have to admit that I have not read them. Those are some interesting names. Not pathetic at all. and Terry Pratchett is an excellent author, Aslana. Bre' - I have read some dragonlance, my favorite is Raistlin. All the character are very well done though. Dragon lance is my favorite series. note: a oopsie.... I hit modify instead of quote

Did you know that Raistlin had a daughter? And did you know how the race of the Trolls came about? In one of the Dragonlance books (in case you missed it) it told of a race that was so perfectly beautiful it was almost sinful. Raistlin had a child with a lady of that race. Later on, that race was cursed to look like the Troll race. I should get that out and read all of them again. And does anyone know the all time number 1 best seller of all times? Its mentioned in this thread. Read more: jackthebear.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=art&thread=5563&page=1#ixzz1qYuZbzdxIts mentioned in this thread. Belgarion from a David Eddings Epic "The Belgariad" He doesn't cast spells, he uses the Will and the Word. No incantus, no ingredients. He can shape-shift-using the same ability. His favorite(and mine) is a wolf. He is really handy with a sword, and can be impressive as a knight, although he thinks knights are empty-headed for the most part.

I love Eddings the Belgariad and Mallorean - some truly wonderful characters - I think my favorite from that series is Beldin the dwarf. I really enjoy the character Sparhawk from Eddings next set of series the Ellenium and Tamuli trilogies. Those series have a lot of great characters, actually.

When I was younger, my favorite character was the hare from the Redwall series. Don't even remember its name now, it's been too long, and those books tired quickly once I grew up a bit, but I remember loving those books, and especially the hare. Nowadays, it's probably Gunter Grass's The Tin Drum, and the lead character in that, Oskar.

A GREAT character. I've read books 1-4 in the series, need to get around to the last three one of these days.

Ah nice, I just started wolves of the calla last week. Definitely still feel The Gunslinger had the best vibe to it, but ever book has been a page-turner.
I also loved Shea Ohmsford from the Sword of Shannara. The rest of the Shannara books just didn't do it for me, but Elfstones and Wishsong were still pretty good albeit being "cookie-cutter" fantasy.
