Thanks G,
When I came back to the game in 08, I still had no idea how to play really. I remember back when I started in '98 my computer knowledge ran something like: well, it looks like a typewriter.. kinda but it has wires and it hums and apparently it ....you see where I'm going with this? It was a magic box. It remained a magic box until around '03.
Like I said, I had no idea about the designer, I barely knew how to click and play the game.
When I got back to the game, it drew me in for the same reason as before, I started pretty much the same. I went out and killed stuff with no regard for anything except finding items of interest. I thought there could be more and was just clicking around the site and found Tavern and TP. I made a couple of posts which got deleted by the mods for one reason or another. I wasn't being rude or mean or foul, just put things in the wrong place and perhaps not understanding how things go was part of the problem.
D_S sent me a note and explained things. He helped out with advice and gear and an offer of clan and you all know how D_S is. It was an amazing difference from before. My enjoyment of the game has only grown with my knowledge. I read a lot. I have found many things that have reminded me of 'back then'. I am often thinking.. hey! I remember that. I didn't know what was happening then but I understand now. I didn't know the game was going through upgrades. I didn't know what an upgrade was. I just knew the game had changed. It was a long time ago and I had completely forgotten the game. All these little reminders of how the game was when I played have triggered my poor memory into some action. It's nice to finally have some explanation for what I experienced back then. I find it quite amusing how little I knew compared to now.

Wow. Even today, that 1.5k glad would fetch a hefty sum. And it was lost to a worthless hacker. Guy probly let his chars get reaped too.

In 98 I queried "java games" in Yahoo. I got a bunch of hits but DC is the only thing I've come back to from then, its just so damn memorable. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. Off topic: anyone remember around when Google beat out every other search engine in the universe for #1?

I was on the job, my first tech support position, back in 2005. It was a very slow evening, and they hadn't bothered to block out gaming for us techs. I was hitting google for a "Free online RPG" I found a couple of games. Adventure Quest was one( I was hooked for about 4 months) and DC was the other. I liked DC in that it was a simple interface and easy to play. But It was sad because you only got so many Quests before the daily reset. That was when I played Adventure Quest. I became an avid player for several months, and discovered Clans. I liked Harry Potter so I joined Gryffindor. The people were welcoming and friendly. I didnt do much in the forums at first, but I liked the RP that tended to take place, as well as the Spamming. I created the Heart & Clan Pub and Eatery in a desire to have an ongoing, but laid back RP. Unfortunately, between one thing and another, the membership of Gryffindor dwindled away, but I was blessed to find a gathering of friends here at W&W and have made my home here.

Well I used to play DC about 12 years ago - before by eldest son could walk and break everything he put his hands too.
I was introduced to it by a friend who was in the top 50 at the time, his Character name escapes me. At the time I thought "Hmmm, pretty old school. Not really a patch on the N64 is it. Looks more C64." While that is true, I was immediately hooked.
I created a couple of characters and got to about level 32 or so. I had a Crystal amini Club I think, although it may have been a silver. Had no problems taking out Dragons and questing in Azteca, Shangala was never a problem. I had more wits than Guts and pretty much never got mezzed.
But then 3 children later, I had almost all but forgotten DC. The N64 still exists, but of course we're on wii & xbox and DS now. I introduce my 11 year old to Halo and once he picked it up I was getting hammered regularly. I sought solace in a game that he didn't know about and so the return to DC was complete.
I've had hoped to resurrect my character but he's either been erased, or I've forgotten the email address. Don't seem to be progressing anywhere near as quick as I have previously, but hey ho.
I've introduced my son to DC and hopefully I'll stay ahead of him for a while yet. I'm also he wrong side of 40 but take comfort knowing I've introduced a new generation to the DC - even thought he's joined Clan Titan.

And what about our ancient mems that got caught up by Fred and forced into beta testing DC? Oh, wait, that was me!!! Dang it. Yeah, I guess I let that freakin cat outta the bag. Ok, so, well, umm......Fred and I used to talk via AIM many, many blue moons ago and he tells me he he is makin a few games. One was what became Star Dart and the other was, of course, Dragon Court.
Well, I told him to get lost, but that didn't work. Does it ever? Hmm, anyways, I was conscripted. I plugged along, pointing out how bad his spelling was and that he needed to get a proof reader or go back to school. Which, became me. Now I do know there are probably more, because I wasn't there for all the updates and addons.
This was all in 96, might even have been 97, it wasn't too long later that he went public with it. Anyways, in 98 I quit for a bit and came back a few months later and he had some piece of junk workin for him named Lawrence. Can't stand the jerk. So I dumped my beta char and made another one, which will be left unnamed, due to the fact Lawrence branded me/him a hacker, which I/he/him wasn't and deleted it.
In pops up a few more of my chars, a few with LARS at the start of the name, due to the fact a buddy of mine started a clan called LARS. To this day I have no idea what it means.....
At this time I also made Smyle. Which I preferred more then the others. When Smyle came of age(ranked high enough) I/He made Carnage at the end 98. Carnage became quite popular with the older players. It was an over 30 clan. We started takin in younger in 2001, I think and most of those were noobz.
Carnage has a unique history, which I won't go into. That is another story.
