Well, the most obvious solution is to MIX THINGS UP. Keep some variety in your questing; if all you do every day is quest the same five characters in Hie Brasil, only focusing on Golems to get that pesky CG, it's gonna get dull. So, I thought it would be nice if I just posted some of the things I do to keep myself entertained, and you are all invited to post your tips as well!
1. Quest in different areas.
This is a pretty clear one, and has been talked about many times before. If you're tired of questing in Azteca, then switch it up, and try the Mounds for a while! Try to get a kick-ass Flaming Sword! See how many Crystal Crowns you can hoard with one week of killing the Queen! If you keep things interesting by questing in different areas, you also get the opportunity to keep your storages full of interesting Crystals and Silvers. Also, with most areas after the Oceans, you might even have a better chance of getting highstats! Especially in the Mounds: have you looked at the tiers of most of the highstats from that area? They're pretty low! I found a 48a Goblin Pike a while ago, and I -think- it's still highstat...but I think it's only like 2.2 tier! So, quest in different areas. If you don't want to sacrifice your chances of finding that CJF: just quest your main in the boring Ocean area, and take a couple weaker alts out for a joyride in the world of DC!
2. Focus on one monster, or one stat.
This is going a bit in the other direction. One thing that is important to keep things interesting is variety: do MORE! Another fun thing is honing in on ONE very specific thing: quest in Hie Brasil and really ONLY KILL GOLEMS. Run away from Medusas, Harpies, even the Gladiators. Obviously this'll be a bit painful (all those Spikeys I'm missing!) but it gets you really focused on that tiny chance of getting a CG, and just makes that day a little more exciting. Or, go to Shangala (or anywhere with lots of enemies to run from) and just RUN all day. Try to up those wits into the stratosphere. Just do it for a week; you'll see your wit gains go from 2 a day to 5! Or not. But it'll still be fun! These kinds of ideas are most fun when they are more unusual: quest one day ONLY killing the Plagues. Or ONLY rats. Etc. Take some strategy ideas people already use, and push them to the extreme, just to see what happens.
3. Change the Name/Stats setting!
Hahaha, so this is one very small, specific thing. I just tried it out today though, and it's REALLY fun! I'm always used to questing with Name first and Stats second; in fact before today I ALWAYS quested that way. Just for fun, I switched it around; I didn't even know the items you quest for are switched around too! (The (?) is before the name). It just gives you something new to watch when you're clicking along; I've found it very refreshing.
4. Play around with your suits!
If you're a steady quester, you've got at least 3-5 chars, all with decent suits. Well, if you want something interesting to quest for: change what your guys wear! If you have your chars equipped with Ayotl Shields, try questing in Shangala for a while and get them Shurikens! Spikeys for everyone? Try Masks (okay, that idea sucks unless you have lots of wits. ). Switch your DSJs for Snake Scale Suits; CSBs for SSS, etc. It helps you decide where to quest if you're trying tip #1, and gives you something to focus on like with tip #2. It also, especially if you don't have alts that are filled with uber-suits, helps you feel like you are finding something useful almost every day, instead of the weeks where only one day do you even find a 2.0 tier reg weapon. All of a sudden, 51a Shurikens look good! Then 54a, as you try to keep upgrading your guys. Then you've got them all equipped with 60a shurikens; now you could go back to Ayotl if you want, and now you've got a bunch of lefties that would be pretty appealing on the TP!
Okay, now I want to hear any other questing tips. What do you do to keep it exciting?
