The first 4-6 months in DC, , , (if someone plays daily), the main challenge is to disvover all areas and opponents u can meet in the game...
Heres how I order DC areas:
Field
forest
mound (all 3 main areas, warren, treasory, throne room)
mountains
castle dungeon
go fish
Hie Brazil
Shangalla
Azteca
Dark Vortex (evil Fred)
Mines (dragon)
Of course with some help, , one can expect to be able to quest in azteca or kill a dragon within 2 months of gameplay, , though, , the stats of that character will always be too low, to quest quickly, in these areas (without using lots of precautions, healing stuff, ginseng or blast powders, etc...)... I usualy recomend questing where u can survive easily (if u have to use 10 fearies or more each day to complete ur quests in one area, , u might want to retreat and quest in an easier area til ur stats and gear get a bit better....
With this initial main goal, , there is always the quest for uppies! Finding better gear is a really fun motivation! Of course, u can always receive help from clan members, , but we are always prouder to wear what we find by questing and hard work!<<
After this 6 months first period of playing, , til u can manage to understand and master pretty much all areas and monsters, , one need to find some more motivations to keep questing....
Many people will find fun in dc for its trading aspect.... though, the best traders are usualy also good questers, , since one must quest to bring new items in trading market.... (or to purchase few nice ones)..
Climbing up is way in trading market is a major goal for many dcers... U try to trade few valuable u have find urself to get one nice item, , when u get few such trades done, , u can invest these few nice items to get a bigger item (an uppy) , etc.....
Trading in dc can be frustrating (specially when ur looking for tiqs) , but if u dont take all this too seriously (its' always just a game) it can bring alot of satisfaction. Trading also help u make friends, and to get vouches (people who trust u).
As said previously, , its always better to combine questing & trading, , to find new items, , , remember, , if someone else can find something, , anyone can find it too (exept for antiques weapons of course).

Beside these generals goals, , some dcers enjoy questing because they are collectors:
Many things can be collected in DC!!
I've seen people collecting:
all rares gear they can find
some only collects one specific rare attribute of all gear (all "guild" items)
some collects all rare of a specific stats of an item (as all lowest stats rares gladiuss, , or all 2.0 tier rare they can find or trade)
Others people specialy likes to collect silvers and crystals, , , (a silver collection could be one item of each stats for .. SSS one would be looking to have one 14d , one 16d one, one 18d, 20d, 22d, 24d, and so on UTUR as hight as possible, , , , or few people only try to gather as many as possible (As many CGB as possible, whatever stats or state)
collections of old weapons, and or odds things also exist.
some people collect higstats (everything 2.0 tier and above)
some only collect higest stats items (the higest specimen ever found in DC of each kind of gear, , an expensive collection that one is)
when regular rares are getting too commun for u, , try collecting doublerares items, , or rare silvers, , or triple rare , or quadruple rare items, , (yes they exists)
some like to collect junk, such as turnips, troll warts, Dragon scales, goblin in T-shirts (!) or even diamonds!
----
Finally, ,
One of the main motivation for lots of dcer, is the listings (when u log off any character, , u can see where he is ranked on the 5 lists avalaible (fame, skills, guild, favor/rank, are the main ones, since we are all in top clan already!!!
But lots of questings and planning, and long time playing, is needed to get atop of these lists!
To see ur name in the top 12 players of any list, is a long process, but it drives many players to keep questing and questing!
Have fun exploring DC, , and feel free to add comments or things I did nt mention that help u to keep questing again and again!
