Introduction:
Tithing is one of the ways to gain experience. To tithe, go to Healer's Tower. You will have the option to tithe there.
Tithing is to pay 10% of your current marks in your pack. You will earn some amount of experience points depending how much you tithe.
Requirements: Before the update, there was age requirement, the your age need to be twice as high as the level you are trying to attain. After the update, level requirement has been removed for tithing.
Amount of Experience Earned: Depend on amount of marks you tithe. If you tithe too little, you gain no experience. If you tithe too much, you waste your marks.[Correct fomula: Under observation]
Basic Advantage of Tithing:
1. You gain experience points without questings. This let you gain levels and add more power to your clan.
2. The higher level you are, the more quests you have.
Disadvantage of Tithing:
1. You will lose lots of marks to gain a good amount of levels.
2. You don't gain extra stats when you tithe. Leveling while questing give you extra chances to gain random stat points. Tithing does not give you the chance. It only gives you +2 guts | +2 wits | +2 charms when you level up. Other than that you don't gain any extra stats. There is however a counter argument.
3. When you level up the monsters get stronger. If you tithe too much you may not be able to survive, hence you might ruin your character.
Other Advantages of Tithing: It is agreed that tithing gives you extra levels but not stats as argued above. However, there is a counter argument. Note that higher level let you gain more guild skills. Gaining more guild skills means more decrease in stat points. The argument is the stat recovery process after gaining guild skills. Note that, the higher your stat is, the more difficult to gain the extra point hence it is more difficult for you to recover the stat that you lose by learning guild skill when you have higher stats. For example: if you have 1000 guts, and you decided to learn a trader skill, you will lose 2 guts causes it to decreases to 998. Your chance of gaining the next point without the multiplier is about 1/998 which is approximately 0.1 %. If you stat is 10 guts, by the same process, you will lose 2 points, which cause you to have 8 guts, but your chance of recovering the next point is 1/8 which is approximately 12.5 %. This does not seem much, but if you are a big planner, and aiming for max out your guild skills, consider you will lose hundreds of points by learning skills, overall damage will be significant and you will be needing higher percentage of recovering those lost points. Better do it sooner than later. [Note that this is just a simple example, the correct formula for gaining stat is more complicated which I don't have at the moment]
Also on the disadvantage of low stat and monsters became too strong. If your stat is that low, do court action, the multipier there is higher and you can easily gain more stat to cover that disadvantage very soon.

Here is a tutorial video that demonstrates how to tithe quickly:
