Gawayn reached his rooms with his limbs burning from the exertion, hardly stopping to gulp some water from a pitcher before strapping on his armor and girding his sword. He worked a simple spell on his shield and covered it with cloth. Feeling his strength renewed by the blessings in his armor and weapons, he strode out to the gate and found Bedwyr standing up from the corpse of Palavar. Not having time to mourn the loss of his fellow, he took measure of the receding defense.
By all that you hold holy, are you farmers with scything wheat in the field or are you paladins? He thundered. These are the undead, for all their fell ability. We need holy might this day, not strength of arms alone. Gather the others and begin sending these foul creatures back to the abyss.
When a pack of undead soldiers approached, Gawayn cast a general exorcism and was satisfied to see the bodies collapse or disperse into the air. Gawayn was not after the undead, though, he had palandins enough for that. He was drawn toward the center of this dark attack, murmuring prayers of protection for his body and resolve for his heart.

The two glowing lights danced about the battlefield. They flew about sporadically, intertwining with one another and then zooming off in various directions...only to return back to one another.
Gradually, the lights made their way to where the warrior had fallen, hovering just above him. One of them came within an inch of Dragon_Stalker's face. It ....pointed?... for the other light in the direction of Palavar's body.....
What were these lights after? and why were they just....lingering...over the dead body of the warrior and the paladin?
"Teeheeheheheheehee! I think this one fell and bumped his head. It's no wonder, now he's dead."
The other one (was it a woman or a small child?) took great efforts to lift a single hand of the warrior. When she had raised it about a foot off the ground, she released it...
Thud!
"Oh my! Heeheheheeehee! Looks like he could use some rest, with that arrow sticking out his chest. Surely he wasn't very blessed, to fall so early in his quest. He left his friends quite depressed, without him they might be stressed. Maybe if you pass our test, we'll restore you to your very best,
but if you fail...
Surely you will be oppressed! by the giant worms who'll digest Your body and your soul possessed, forever you'll have unrest! Heed carefully what I have professed, none of it was in jest. If in this plan you will invest, then it is time for you to ingest The tiniest little pest, who your innards will molest!"
The light-girl carefully placed a centipede like insect on the lips of the warrior. It crawled into his mouth, a new cave. It slowly began to make its way down, down ....down....

The previous spells that she had cast, both on herself and those around her, had completely drained her of all her mana and energy. Her last conscious thought had been of saving her Bard. As she peacefully snoozed on the soft surface of where she had been left, all images of a battle had been wiped from her memory. She moved only once in her deep slumber which was to grasp the stuffed teddypanda bear that Sirinnu had once gifted her. On the pillow sitting by her head, a tiny dragon had perched himself to keep watch over his Mistress. Had she been aware of the absence of any images from her dreams, she would have been grateful. But she knew nothing as she slowly but surely regained the mana that had depleted every ounce of energy or stamina from her body.

the annoying stinking runt of a dragon had fallen alseep finally and the death grip that the druid had around the bear's neck was almost more than he could stand. but with a couple of grunts and a few squirms, the magical bear was free. his eyes now glowed and its mouth opened slightly. a twist of its paws emitted a soft glowing light that seemed to levitate upward then around the druid and the scaley creature. the bear laid back against the druid knowing full well he would once more be choked but the knowledge of the protective barrier the magical bear had placed around the bed gave a sense of relief.

Gawayn stumbled upon the body unexpectedly, so focused was he. The army of Undead was not as much of a concern, with the renewed attack by his paladins and the other forces from the castle. The unnatural things were being put back to rest. He went to stand when he saw who it was who lay before him, an arrow snapped off nearby.
Oh my friend, Gawayn whispered, resting his hand on Dragon_Stalker's chest. To see you here like this saddens me. I only hope you found the glory you sought in life before its end. I will not forget you. No one will, in the days to come. He knew others depended on him, even more now that his clan mate was slain, but he offered a prayer of peace and cast a special blessing.
The reverie was broken by Unknown's cry, reaching out to Gawayn's ears.

After lying Bre'Cheye back in her room and making sure Fade was watching over her, Irishman went back to his own room and donned fresh clothing. As he was looking in the mirror and lacing fresh strings thru his tunic, he caught a glimpse of Y'n Varra in the mirror. Accustomed to her occasional appearance, he casually continued what he was doing.
[glow=red,2,300]My son, you must be more careful. Exposing your gifts to the unlearned in this way may cause more harm then good. I have warned you before that doing so alerts your enemies, who are constantly looking for you.[/glow]
My Lady, he protested, If I had done nothing, many innocents would have died.
[glow=red,2,300]It is not your spirit I am challenging, my son. It is your methods. If you continue to allow the gift to rule you, you will forever remain wild...and alone.[/glow]
Irishman felt a single tear track down his cheek. I'm sorry to be a disappointment, my Lady. I will try to do better in the future.
[glow=red,2,300]My son, I am rarely disappointed in you. All I seek is to make your life better, more rich and fulfilled. Now, you have a job to do. Go, awaken your friend, give her my blessing, and begin your journey.[/glow]
Y'n Varra faded from the mirror.
Irishman pulled himself together and went back to Bre'Cheye's chambers.

The little dragon looked up at the open door to the room where his Mistress was regaining her mana. He held his paw up and spoke in his own language to the one standing, "Wux troth jacioniv?" He then flew to the end of the bed to finish eating the apple pie he had found.
When the mana had fully been recovered, she woke with a start and sat up in the bed to wonder how she ended up here. The door to the room was to her left and not in her line of vision as she looked to the floor in search for the stuffed toy. "Fade, where did you put Teddy?"
Remembering the battle and all those that had been wounded, she quickly forgot about finding the stuffed toy. Panicking, she jumped from the bed to find her way out of the castle, to find her friends. Seeing the door, she felt relief, "You're safe," she whispered to the Bard.

The power! Unknown felt it coursing through his entire being. He revelled in the power he now had, cackling evilly.
Do any dare stand against me?
His voice boomed out from every shadow, though to a lesser extent than it did for James. Wanting to test the limits of his new power, Unknown ran towards the castle. His own speed astounded him. Why had he ever thought it was better to hide in the shadows? Now there was nothing to hide from.
He made it to one of the secret entrances, but was unable to enter due to the powerful magic that guarded it against evil. Unfazed, Unknown began scaling the wall. As soon as he was on the battlements, he took out his horn and played two long notes, the call to an emergency meeting. He did his best to calm his racing heart and smooth out his wildly fluctuating emotions, and it didn't take long before the group he used to lead was gathered before him. Unknown gave them a smile and held out his hand.
Who will join me in the darkness?
A shocked silence decended upon the gathering. One of the younger ones stood and accepted the offer. One by one they came. A few of the older ones, who had fought for the light for so long, stayed back. Even fewer tried to persuade those leaving that this was a bad idea. When it was apparent that all who would join him had come, Unknown withdrew his hand.
So you will foolishly cling to the light? Don't you see that the victory of darkness is inevitable?
He clenched his fist, sending out tendrils of darkness towards those who had stayed back. In a blink of an eye, they were gone. Turning towards those who had gathered behind him, Unknown directed the darkness towards them.
We will let them live for now, there is no rush to kill them.
The darkness surrounded the heads of the group, twisting their minds as Unknown's had been twisted. Granting them power, far weaker than his own, but still enough to give them great strength.
There is no longer a need for us to hide in the shadows. Come, let us return to the battle!
With that, Unknown started climbing back down, his new minions following closely. At the bottom, they walked back to the battlefield, seeing what destruction they could cause.

Seeing that Bre'Cheye was restored, he quickly gathered his equipment and had her take her pack up as well.
Come, m'dear. We need ta begin our journey. If'n we can find out anything from the Queen, now's the time. While the enemy is pressed we can sneak outta the castle tunnels an' journey ta her court.
Seeing that she was prepared, he called Fade over to perch on his shoulder as they hurried from the room.

Who dares!?
James wanders onto the battlefield, and D_S was in sight. His Darkness Tendrils swarmed around him, turning troops as he charged. His sword danced as if he knew no fear. His face, although hidden in shadow, showed teeth that grinned.
Know fear, little Warrior. Know fear when death approaches you.

Grabbing the stuffed toy from the bed and her backpack, she followed the Bard from the room to begin the journey to see the Queen. She tugged on Fade's tail as he sat on the Bard's shoulder. "Do you think that the Queen will see us? Do you think she'll help?"
Their footsteps on the stone floor of the long hall echoed with each step they took and at times it sounded like there were more than two sets of footsteps. The random torches along the damp hallway only lit part of their way, leaving the remainder somewhat spooky or at least, to a Druid who at times was on edge or easy to scare.

Gawayn raced ahead, at least as much as anyone in full armor could race. He wasn't sure where all his comrades were, living or dead, but he knew where the source of the evil darkness was, he could feel it in the assault upon his healing aura. He felt the strength in his arm from a blessing spell and stout of heart from care for his fellows.
He approached the enemy and withdrew his ancient sword, Galatine, the runic inscriptions along the blade undimmed by the cloud cover above. He was not sure who exactly he was facing, but he had a fair idea of what.
Enough! I have seen and felt enough of your fell deeds this day to sense in there the vestiges of paladinic powers. I could have once called you brother, could I have not? We were not so different at one time, you and I. Why do you seek to destroy that which you once protected? Were the heights of legend not enough? Cast off the darkness in your heart! I would not strike out at a paladin unless the need was great. Turn away and trouble these lands no more!

*Irishman and BreCheye head down to the lower levels of the keep where the entrance to the tunnels lie. Bracing himself, Irishman pulls back the bars barring the door closed. Pulling open the door it creaks on its massive hinges giving way reluctantly. Pausing to grab up a torch from the hall he ducks into the darkness beyond and clears the webbing from the immediate area. After BreCheye entered the tunnel behind him, he pulled closed the heavy door. The heavy bracing thudded into place on the other side of the door, there would be no returning through this door.*

She jumped at the sound of the door being shut and barred, then stood next to the Bard to wait for her eyes to adjust to the darkness. The light from the torch lit the way in front of Irishman but only went so far. She had been in dungeons and caves back home with her sisters and brother, hunting down first this creature and that but for some reason she couldn't described, this made a shiver run through her body.
"Are you sure we'll be safe? Going this way?" she asked as she hugged the teddypanda bear close. A soft squeak from the Bard's shoulder told her that Fade was just as spooked as she. She slowly turned to face the closed door, backing up against the bard and had to wonder about her other friends' safety.

Reassuredly patting BreCheye on the shoulder, he takes her hand and leads her into the darkened tunnel. According to the map it made several twists and turns but should run direct to the woods beyond the battle. The tunnel sloped sharply downward for some distance before almost leveling out.
After the first few minutes the temperature, that had seemed uncomfortably close, began to cool noticably. Their constant quick pace kept there bodies warm, but the cool air stole the heat from their bodies at the same time.
The tunnel began to open up some, leaving Irishmans' head clear so that he didnt feel he had to hunch his shoulders anymore. Suddenly, the space before them opened upon a huge cavern. The area covered by the torch seemed to dwindle to insignifigance. Lifting the torch above his head, he could not see the roof to this cavern. Pulling BreCheye closer to him, he started across the expanse hoping it led directly to another tunnel. Cautioning BreCheye to stay close he carefully navigated the floor.
There were broken pieces of rock that looked to have fallen from the ceiling, as well as standing pools of water that appeared to be only inches deep, but he kept well clear of these as well. The floor was worn smooth from what appeared to have been heavy traffic at some time in the dim past. At one point he spied a large crack running across the floor, deciding to skirt it he lead BreCheye to one side in an attempt to get around it. The crack grew wider as well as deeper. After several minutes they came upon a bridge traversing the crack. Stopping at the foot of the bridge he turned to her.
BreCheye, I will be honest, I didna expect to come across any of this when we chose to take ta the tunnels. I need yer advice on whether we should take ta the bridge or look fer another way across ta the other side.
